Brief: This mass timber restaurant is perched above Sand Creek, with the primary structure cantilevered over the water. Built entirely from cross-laminated timber, the building highlights the clarity and warmth of exposed wood while responding to a compact urban site.
Inside, 75 seats are arranged across a series of defined zones: a family area with booths, a mix of 2- and 4-top tables with a continuous bench, and a bar anchoring the south edge. The layout balances openness with spatial rhythm, shaped by structure, light, and views to the creek. A 950 sf deck extends over the water, offering outdoor seating and direct connection to the bar. A sidewalk-facing pickup window supports walk-up service and adds a civic edge to the street. Back-of-house and service functions are organized efficiently, with a fully designed kitchen and a utility basement below. The project is both responsive and restrained, using a limited palette to focus attention on setting, structure, and the experience of gathering.
